Long time no see, eh? Well I am still here and very much alive. I just haven’t been in a very talkative or productive mood thus my lack of internet communication and updates since… February? Really? Damn.
Back in February, Mom upgraded our internet connection speeds and the company gave us Apple gift cards as a “thank you” for upgrading. It took forever to get the damn cards but at least once we got them, the actual shipping of the device(s) in question didn’t take too long. The original plan was to use the cards to get me a new iPod Touch 5th Gen but instead Mom got me an iPad Mini… which is so kick ass awesome. I got it late last week and I absolutely love it. Funny how something you never thought you really needed becomes something you don’t understand how you managed to live for so long without. I’ve been downloading a ton of free apps plus a couple cheap pay ones that I can’t do without, seemingly anyway, plus some accessories like the bluetooth keyboard I’m typing this on right now. This is so cool. I now love watching things on my iPad on demand far better than on my TV so I subscribed to Hulu Plus and Netflix. Of course, I can access both of those services on my TV via my Xbox 360, I think, but I haven’t tried it yet. I’m now catching up on and rewatching shows like Doctor Who, Family Guy, SNL, Community, Star Trek, and more. I no longer need to bitch about not having my own DVR because there’s nothing I can’t watch on this thing instead (that I’ve noticed so far anyway).
Remember a while back I got paid a commission for my artwork “Forced Emotion” to be used on a book cover? Well, I got another beautiful check in the mail for my artwork being used again for the audio book version. I used that to get that new iPod Touch 5th Gen I have been wanting/needing. I got it today in fact and just finished putting all my music and apps on it. I’ve also had a few interesting conversations with Siri on both devices. Hmm… I wonder what would happen if I activated Siri on both the iPad and iPod if they would talk to each other. I’m going to have to try that later, Once I get done with this blog entry I am going to list my old iPod Touch 4th Gen on eBay. I’m not crazy about the newly redesigned iPod earpods. I think the earbuds I bought off Amazon a while back for $5 have better sound and are far more comfortable.
I just discovered while hooking up my new iPod to my desktop that the wifi adapter I bought to connect my desktop to the new internet modem (old modem wouldn’t work with the new high speed we have) does not work well enough to do me any good at all. I should have known better than to rely on an adapter that cost $4 total. Now I need to get back to New Egg and get one that will actually work. I just wish I had realized this one doesn’t work back before the time to return it ran out.
I did manage to get out of the house yesterday. My original plan was to drive to Carbondale by myself and go see Iron Man 3 in 3D by myself. While checking the movie times on Fandango via my app, I noticed it was also playing in 3D in Mt. Vernon which is closer and the ticket price was $1.50 cheaper. Then it dawned on me that Sam is back living near there so I called her up (yes, I actually made a phone call by myself on my own initiative, un-fucking-believable isn’t it?). So we ended up having lunch and seeing the movie together rather than me seeing it by myself like the loser I thought myself to be, and still do. After seeing the preview for Star Trek Into Darkness before Iron Man 3 started, I do believe Sam and I will be seeing that movie next week as well. Oh yeah, Iron Man 3 was a great movie. I love The Avengers more but it’s a good second. I can’t wait to see the new Star Trek now!!
That’s all for now. I still don’t quite feel ready to get back to doing much of anything. I do feel “better” I think but that’s all relative, isn’t it? My meds were increased a few days ago so we’ll see if that has any effect on anything in the coming weeks. For now, I will probably continue to spend most of my time daydreaming and playing with my new tech toys. I have no idea when my next blog entry will be but I’ll try not to remain silent for such a long period of time again if I can help it. For now, I’m off.
